LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Pop star Britney Spears was taken to hospital for tests to see if she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs and for a psychological evaluation after police were called to her home Thursday night to mediate a custody dispute, a police spokesman said.

As she gets crazer, her ears get elfier. I truly think that the worse her breakdowns now, the bigger and better her comeback-proper will be. She'll disappear for 10-20 years, except for 'where are they now?' reports and cautionary tales in the meeja, then emerge, triuamphant, as a mad gay icon on a remake of Arrested Development sometime circa 2030.

I bet the children's TV presenter who murdered his drugged up girlfriend in the bath yesterday is gutted he picked the wrong day to snarf all the headlines.
